Statement of Faith
To open the Word of God and teach is not a calling I take lightly. I believe that God’s word and the teaching of Jesus Christ are the foundation upon which a wise woman builds her life. As a teacher, I strive to spend time studying and understanding the Bible from a historical, literary and a practical standpoint. My prayer is always that the Holy Spirit would go before me and open my eyes to the truth that God has in store for each group of women I meet with.
While I do not claim to adhere to any certain denomination, I do hold these beliefs as the foundation from which I teach and interpret God’s Word.
The Bible is one complete story. It should be taught and read as such.
The entity and person of God exists in three revealed persons: the Father, the Son (Jesus Christ) and the Holy Spirit. Each are distinct and unique and active in different ways in our spiritual lives; and all exist in perfect harmony as one.
Jesus came as the representative sacrifice for sinful humanity. All people are born running after their own will, which ultimately leads us away from our Creator and towards destruction. The Bible tells the story of how man cannot redeem himself. The Gospel is the good news that God has a plan to come to the rescue of all who will turn to Him. Jesus came as the perfect sacrifice to pay for all of the sins of the sons and daughters of God. He lived a sinless life, physically died on the cross spilling His blood as a perfect lamb, and physically rose from the dead three days later. He now sits at the right hand of God as the perfect intermediate between God the Father and His Children. He paves the way and opens the door to humanity’s restored relationship with their Creator.
Repentance is the turning from self and sin that God requires of each soul to return to Him. Belief that Jesus is the Son of God that paid for the sinner’s penalty is what God asks for. When we make the choice to believe in the payment of Christ and return to the Father, we are ushered in as forgiven and redeemed to God the Father. We can go forward in life not under the weight of shame and guilt, but as precious children of God; loved, redeemed and clean.
The Holy Spirit is God the Father’s good gift to us as followers of Christ. He is a present teacher, counsellor and encourager as we walk the narrow road that leads us back to who God made us to be. Walking in the Spirit means learning to listen to what God is speaking through His Word and to our hearts in our everyday life choices.
God’s Word is the truth and firm foundation that we can build our lives on. His ways are higher than ours, and better than any human idea. God is love and goodness. His plans for us may not be easy, but they are always good.
